What Happened to Our Republic?

Introduction
Are you concerned with the erosion of our Constitutional Republic and the economic chaos our country is in?

Well, I am!

My name is Charles "Gus" Gustafson and I consider myself a "Constitutional Conservative" and an "American Patriot". I'm also an active supporter of the "Tea Party" movement.

I prefer the term "Constitutional Conservative" because I find the term "conservative", used alone, can mean anything in today's political spectrum. It's been tainted by those politicians who claim to adhere to "conservative" values of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free enterprise, but when it comes time to vote in Congress, they vote to pass unconstitutional laws. In fact, most of the time they don't even read the bills they vote on. Would you avoid reading a contract you were going to sign and be bound by? Well, bills passed in the legislature are contracts which bind us, the people, to specific performances or obligations. Shouldn't our representatives be required to read each bill in its entirety before voting, especially when our liberty is at stake?

Because I'm concerned with the socialist direction in which our country is headed, I've decided to do something about it, i.e., to get involved! That's the purpose of this blog — to write down my thoughts and discoveries about how and why our Republic has been usurped by what I call the "Global Shadow Government". This blog is not only a public diary of my thoughts, views and values, but it'll be an educational tool for anyone who reads it. It'll be loaded with facts, citations, links, and bibliographies. It's a way for me to get information out to anyone who wants to know the truths I've discovered that are hidden by the shadows of deception and to get them out into the light of day. This way "We the People" will have the information we need so we can act accordingly.

Information is powerful, but only if acted upon!

Why do I call these global deceptors the "Shadow Government"? One clue of many I'll unveil later came from President Ronald Reagan. When he was asked by a reporter how he felt about being the most powerful man in the world, his answer summed up what I've known since I began my constitutional studies 25 years ago. To paraphrase, he said that he wasn't the most powerful man in the world — that every morning, when he enters the oval office, there's a note on his desk telling him what he is to do that day. Even though he said it in what seemed like jest, there was a message behind his words — but that's for another time.

Future posts will reveal the ugly truths I've discovered about this Shadow Government, how, like a spider, it wove its way into all three branches of our government (executive, legislative and judicial) and destroyed our money one strand of deception at a time starting with the Federal Reserve Act of December 23, 1913. I'll discuss how it's sped up the overthrow of our Republic, and give suggestions as to what we, as individuals, can do about defeating this Shadow Government and the Federal Reserve and reclaim our Constitution, our Republic, the Common Law, and our individual Liberty.

As a result of all my research over the past 25 years, I've come to the conclusion that the main strand, the center of this web of deception, is directly related to our Central Banking System.

My next blog post will begin with a discussion of the Central Banking System, its history and its intentions. I won't be able to cover the whole topic in one sitting, but in many subsequent serialized posts.

Note: I remember when I was a kid, I would go to the movies every Saturday afternoon, not to see the main movie, but to see the next serialized episode of either Buck Rogers, The Shadow, Roy Rogers, etc. The same will be done here in this blog.

Until next time, keep your powder dry!

Gus

  1. I agree the banking system is one of the BIG problems we have in our country, but I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that our banking system is the root of the problem. There seems to be a "subconscious" tendency in humans to fault others for our problems.

Our form of government, a republic, fortunately or unfortunately, requires an informed citizenry to function properly, as intended by our founding fathers. Remember Benjamin Franklin's response to the lady who asked him if the Constitutional Convention had decided to give us a democracy, "No madam, a republic if you can keep it!" Franklin certainly knew what was required of us.

I think the root of the problem is WE THE PEOPLE. Humans are by nature imperfect beings, who unless trained from childhood to adhere to a common moral code designed for the good of the country or society, have a tendency to indulge in behavior that is self pleasing and often at the expense of others.

I think this human characteristic is at the root of the problem. You see examples of it everywhere.

Here is one. Our republic requires that the citizens elect their representatives, and it is assumed that the citizens will act responsibly in doing so. However, our tendency to indulge in things pleasing to us, keeps us from educating ourselves about the candidates and issues that we will be voting on. Most of us have at least a couple hours per week that could be used to educate ourselves about the candidates and issues; but education is too much like work, and after putting eight hours at work plus driving time, we would rather watch TV, go to a sporting event, etc. The politicians, who are human and thereby have a tendency to please themselves, have campaign managers who are likewise, and they know that the voters would rather be entertained than educate themselves. You put these things together and you can see why there is so much effort on the part of politicians to raise money. He who has the most money can buy the best and most entertainment on TV designed to get the public's vote. Why should these politicians be expected to do what is best for the country when the present moral code is "take care of number 1"? And we wonder why it is that a hand shake no longer seals a deal between two people, why our word is no longer our bond!

WE THE PEOPLE are at fault. We allowed ourselves to take the easy road. Our representatives are only a reflection of ourselves. We have allowed ourselves to fall victims to the lie that everyone is entitled to his own morality. Well, we are living the consequences of this lie. Remember what George Washington said regarding morality in his farewell address,
" ...Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion, and Morality are indispensable supports.—In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens.—The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them.—A volume could not trace all their connexions with private and public felicity.—Let it simply be asked where is security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in Courts of Justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion.—Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure.—reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.—"

Many will disagree with me, nevertheless, it is impossible to govern a free people devoid of a common moral code. If we don't believe it, we merely have to look at the condition of our own divided country!

WE THE PEOPLE either acknowledge our error, reestablish our common morality or we will be ruled by tyrants!

  2. I am one of those who disagree. I don't need religious principles to be principled. As you may have guessed, Cindy and I are not religious at all. We don't believe in forcing our values on others and we don't want others to force their values on us. Most religions want to force their values on people. This is the philosophy I live by:

  4. I wanted to add a little more to the comments I posted last night. I prefer to fight for a philosophy that transcends religion and theocracy and defends freedom for everyone and allows both Christians and atheists to live their lives the way they choose. Remember what Sinclair Lewis warned in his book It Can't Happen Here: “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” It's easy to allow tyranny in the name of religion and jingoism if it comes packaged as "morality" or "patriotism".

I support freedom and liberty for all. I support a society that allows Christians to teach their children about Jesus and atheists to teach their children that there is no God and gives both the freedom to live their lives accordingly. If Christians want to convert people to what they believe is moral they should do it without trying to get the government involved. There is no reason those values should be forced on me through laws.

I would like to talk more about it in the future but for now, here's the text of the video I posted above:
